Due to the large numbers of Burundians crossing into Rwanda, several reception and transit centers have been put in place to host them and facilitate their registration and relocation to permanent camps.
The population in those centers varies depending on the influx of refugees, and their maintenance needs to be ensured in case an emergency occurs. GHDF is responsible of WASH activities in Nyanza, Bugesera/ Gashora, and the most recent addition, Gatore reception center.
In these centers, GHDF ensures that the refugees have access to water, sanitation facilities, and gives them information about life and behavior in the refugee camp.
