Rwanda Speaks !

GHDF and Imbuto foundation have joined their efforts once again to promote debate culture among Rwandan youth. For the third consecutive year, the Rwanda Speaks program is reinstituted, taking place in a total of 17 youth centers and 1 youth hostel. Working with a group of 21 trainers who share an extensive debate experience, Imbuto foundation and GHDF are reaching out to marginalized youth in order to cultivate their critical thinking, public speaking skills and build their confidence.

The trainers will visit the centers on a weekly basis, conducting debate workshops tackling different issues and raising awareness about various topics concerning the youth and their personal and social development. The methodology will also seek to engage the youth creatively in developing their own solutions within their communities and local authorities, and giving them a voice in shaping their vision and involvement in the future of the world they live in. A competition is planned to take place at the end of the program, putting the participants’ knowledge and skills to the test, and allowing them to interact with youth from other centers in an intellectually motivating context.
