The Isangano Youth Centre

Isangano Youth Centre, based in Kiramuruzi, opened in December 2012 as part of a joint venture between by PLAN Rwanda and GHDF, sponsored by the Norwegian youth group called Operations Day’s Work.

The building, a former post office, has been contributed for its use by the Gatsibo District and from small beginnings, activities are being developed, young people are using the facilities and are now making their own contribution to encourage other young people to attend and increase the range of events and sessions on offer !

As always with GHDF – debate is a regular activity and is conducted in English, making the task even harder for the young people !

Two ICT groups meet on a weekly basis and other activities include health and sexual health education sessions, the “Darling Club”, promoting creative cultural activities including dance, music and singing – there is even a group developing the outside area, growing vegetables and plants !

Peak Family Itorero Yego Center

In October 2013, GHDF signed a MoU with Nyamagabe district for the purpose of implementing youth professional skills development and Youth recreational activities among youth from Kigeme refugees’ camp and youth resident in the area of Peak Family Itorero Center. This objective has to be achieved through vocational training (tailoring, hair dressing, electronics, mechanics, catering ), trainings on ICT,trainings on sexual and reproductive health, training on entrepreneurship, training on HIV prevention, recreations activities (volleyball, basketball, tennis) and debates.
